With all of us spending perhaps way too much time in our abodes due to the ongoing pandemic, our homes have become more than just our refuge, but a place we want to enjoy aesthetically as well. The constant influx of those pesky Pottery Barn brochures in our mailboxes is always hounding me to up my game, and my young adult daughters kindly
let us know our home is completely out of date as much as we are out of touch ourselves. Being home, 24/7 means a lot of us are now full on using our homes, and possibly looking at them with a more critical eye than before.
"How to Create a Serene Home" has become a goal for many during these trying times, but how best should we tackle this overwhelming task? In the NYT article I came across one of my mistakes, which says not to just begin cleaning out the things you don't want, but make a plan first. Despite unloading quite a haul last week at the local Goodwill drop off point, we had been working on this task since mid-summer, first listing our items for sale on sites like Mercari and DePop, but recently I've grown tired of the items that have not sold so we recycled them. Now I'm poised and ready for the next step. Where are you in this process?
